Words Alive is Seeking an Artist to Create a Bookshelf-Inspired Donor Wall
Words Alive, a San Diego nonprofit dedicated to inspiring a love of reading, is looking for an artist to create a vibrant, playful, and organized donor wall mural that celebrates literacy and community impact. This is an exciting opportunity to design a bright, bookshelf-inspired mural that will honor our generous supporters in a visually interesting way.
PROJECT DETAILS
Theme: Bookshelf-inspired donor wall
Location: Words Alive Headquarters— 770 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101
Wall Dimensions: 95 ft x 10 ft
Number of Books: 200+ books incorporated into the mural
Book Specifications: Ideally 12 inches or taller, with spines that allow manual addition of donor names (not responsibility of artist)
Design Style: Simple, clean, playful, bold, and crisp
Color Palette: Must incorporate Words Alive’s brand colors
Creative Direction: Simple and fun, with engaging, surprising elements that bring the bookshelf concept to life
ARTIST REQUIREMENTS
Experience with large-scale murals
Ability to execute a clean and vibrant design
Willingness to collaborate with Words Alive on final design details and ability to add donor names
Comfortable incorporating branding elements while maintaining a unique artistic vision
Be available to execute mural March through April
Provide materials, or if donating the mural pro bono, provide an estimated cost of materials

Portfolio of previous mural work (website or PDF preferred)
Budget proposal and timeline estimate
